What You Can Do To Help

Altadena and Pasadena School Supply Drive

The Toads Club can use your help! TOADS is a teen-collective founded by Griffin McLemore and Gracie Underwood, centered around creating community. They are aimed towards teenagers ages 13-19, and are meant to be a reliable networking system for teen events and connections. Griffin witnessed John Muir High School in Pasadena burning down so he immediately wanted to help those students and jumped into action, doing everything possible to help the surrounding community. Soon the TOADS team began organizing this school drive, focusing on providing direct service to students impacted by the Eaton fire, in the form of fully-packed backpacks. So many of the staff and PTA contacts have suffered traumatic loss so our ability to connect is sometimes limited. The  biggest need is for 120 high quality large backpacks with a computer sleeve.

Additional information is available at https://www.fires.com/ and you can access the Amazon wish list here.
Purchases don’t need to be made from Amazon, the list is mean to be a guide to the products they need the most right now.  Gift cards from Amazon, Target and Lakeshore Learning are also always welcome.

Governor Newsom signs executive order to help Los Angeles rebuild faster and stronger.

Waives CEQA and Coastal Act requirements for reconstruction, extends law against price gouging

The executive order issued by Governor Newsom will:

– Suspend CEQA review and California Coastal Act permitting for reconstruction of properties substantially damaged or destroyed in recent Southern California wildfires.
– Direct state agencies to identify additional permitting requirements, including provisions of the Building Code, that can safely be suspended or streamlined to accelerate rebuilding and make it more affordable.
– Extend protections against price gouging on building materials, storage services, construction, and other essential goods and services to January 7, 2026, in Los Angeles County.
– Commit to working with the Legislature to identify statutory changes that can help expedite rebuilding while enhancing wildfire resilience and safety.

Governor Newsom will continue to work administratively and with the Legislature to help those affected by the recent fires rebuild what they have lost.
