ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – EBMC is celebrating its 50th year in business. The company was founded in Sausalito, California, by Eugene Burger and his partner, Theodore Barcelone, under the name Barcelon-Burger Management Corporation in 1968, specializing in the management of market rate and affordable apartment communities, commercial properties, condominiums and cooperatives.
Shirley Burger, Eugene’s wife, was the first to enter the field pf property management. Shortly after Shirley started, Eugene entered the field and embarked on what would prove to be an extremely successful career in property management. Burger and Barcelon went their separate ways in 1979. Eugene Burger retained the original charter for the corporation along with approximately 35 employees and 50 properties.
What started out as a dream between a husband and wife has blossomed into an innovative and service-oriented operation. Over the years, EBMC acquired a number of small management companies to expand and complement its operations. Its corporate headquarters are in Rohnert Park, California, but the company has offices in Auburn, Bakersfield, Novato, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Windsor and in two in Nevada.
Fifty years later, Eugene and his wife Shirley continue to be the sole owners of the corporation and their son Stephen Burger serves as its president. EBMC is a long-standing Business member of CACM and the trade association has greatly benefitted from EBMC’s involvement with Carra Clampitt and Bruce Ratliff engaged on the CACM Board of Directors.
“We are thrilled with the accomplishments EBMC has achieved over the years and are proud to have them and their individual team members a thriving part of the CACM community,” said Tom Freeley, President and CEO of CACM. “Cheers to you!”
