The Manager’s Story: Lessons from Surfside

In his first live in-person interview since the tragic collapse of Champlain Towers South, former community manager Scott Stewart will provide a firsthand account of the events leading up to the catastrophic event, the moment it occurred, and the ensuing aftermath. Drawing from his personal experience, Scott will offer a unique perspective and share valuable lessons learned, as well as steps that can be taken to prevent similar tragedies. This exclusive discussion is a must-attend for all community managers who want to learn about the impact of catastrophic loss and the necessary measures to avert such tragedies in the future. Scott’s story is one you don’t want to miss.

About the Speaker
Scott Stewart served as the community manager of Champlain Towers South in Surfside, Florida, from 2019 to 2022. In 2021 when the building suffered a partial collapse, he played a pivotal role in assisting various agencies in search and rescue efforts as well as the subsequent investigations and recovery activities. Scott is a professional community manager with more than 15 years of expertise in residential, commercial, and hospitality building management and operations. His skillset includes building renovation, project management, budget development, staff mentorship, facility maintenance, and special project coordination. He is particularly skilled in vendor contract management, negotiations, board and resident relations, and multi-use association management. He has gained extensive experience in association management roles, with a focus on high-rise and mixed-use property management.
