Legislative Forum

The 2012 Legislative Forum gathered nearly 80 attendees for a half-day program designed to increase awareness of the legislative process and offer a glimpse into the intricate workings of the Capitol. The event began with a review of do’s and don’ts of meeting with legislators, CACM’s positions on various bills and the purpose and goals of CACM’s Political Action Committee Fund.
The morning continued with key bill discussions from Norma Torres, Chair of Assembly Housing; Ted Gaines, Vice Chair of Senate Housing; and Linda Wheaton, Assistant Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, Housing & Community Development. After a short walk to the Capitol, attendees had the opportunity to participate in individual appointments with Legislators from their district to discuss CACM’s positions on key bills.
